Pat Barnett

Patrick "Pat" Barnett, of Enid and formerly of Woodward, died on November 5, 2012 in his home at the age of 78, after a long battle with cancer. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, November 24, 2012 at the Billings Funeral Home Chapel in Woodward, with Lawrence Glennie officiating.

Patrick Floyd Shelby Barnett was born on March 17, 1934 in Woodward, Oklahoma to Floyd Edwin and Lucille (Henley) Barnett. He spent two years at Carter High School, but came back to graduate from Woodward High School in 1953. There he met an angel, Ethlyn Fisher, and they were married in Woodward on February 5, 1954 at the First Assembly of God Church. They lived in Woodward for many years before moving to Enid nine years ago. Pat worked many jobs, but finally found his calling as a salesman. He spent many years at Trego’s, Southwestern Stationery and Bank Supply, and managed SPC Office Products in Woodward for several years. He owned Barnett Office Supply and Stationery (BOSS) before moving to Enid.

Pat’s hobbies included a lifelong love of music, singing and bird hunting. He was active in Scouts as a Cub master from 1969 -1971 and was President of Jaycees and Ambucs, a lifetime member of the VFW and a member of the Elks and Moose Lodge. His military service included the Army Reserves, where he attained the rank of Staff Sergeant.

Pat’s greatest enjoyment in life was singing for others at church, weddings and funerals and taking his kids and grandkids to the lake on his pontoon boat, the USS Popie.

Patrick was preceded in death by his Mother and Father, grandparents Ed and Aileen Smith, sister Beatrice Bratcher, brother Jerry Barnett and son Kyle Barnett. He is survived by his loving wife Ethlyn of the home in Enid; daughter Cherie Priebe and husband David of Enid; son Kelly Barnett and wife Denise of Moore; sister Naomi Baxter of Illinois; brothers-in-law, J. Dee and Sandy Fisher of Rogers, Arkansas, Dr. Bill Fisher of Elk City; many nieces and nephews; Grandchildren, Michelle (Priebe) and Jeff Harmon, Danielle (Priebe) Willson, Kavan Barnett, Meagan Barnett, Eric Baker, Bobby and Jamie Baker, Ronny Baker; great grandchildren, Kobe Willson, Kaidrian Baker, Jordyn Baker, and Kenzly Baker.

Pat was loved by all who knew him and he will be greatly missed.
